Volunteers are the heart of the DHC and make it
happen. Without you this event simply cannot happen!
NOTE: Volunteers are
eligible to win all raffle prizes, and all food is
free for volunteers.
Site Setup and Breakdown - 7
volunteers needed: This involves settng up tables,
tents, chairs, and digital timing equipment and
display, and taking them down and transporting back
to storage locations.
Food pickup and distribution - 2
volunteers needed: This requires picking up the
coffee pumps, fruit, pastries, bottled water, etc
from Fairhaven Haggen's and Avenue Bread and
distributing them on onsite tables for the
contestants.
Registration - 3 volunteers
needed: This requires distributing race packets to
preregistered contestants according to boat numbers,
and taking in day-of-race registrations and monies.
You will also need to answer questions about the
day's schedule of events.
Timing - 4 volunteers needed: This
requires accurate accounting of boat numbers, their
finish order and timing. One volunteer must use
binoculars to call out boat numbers 1/4 mile before
the finish line.
BBQ - Generally, this effort is
handled by members of Whatcompaddlers. |
